The lampshade is made of silicone which gives it a nice frosted look. It is somewhat translucent (the lighter colours more than the darker colours) which makes for a special glow.
When you order the egglamp, it comes in a flat package including the lampshade, the bottom, and a screwhook with plug to install it to the ceiling. You only have to insert the LED bulb (not included) and then the synthetic bottom of the shade, which gives it its shape.
The 2 meters long cord gives you the option to hang this lamp above a lower cabinet or, for example from a higher ceiling.
